About Chef Regan

Regan grew up trolling the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, spending time every summer fishing, crabbing, and boating in the flats of Cedar Key, Florida. Having the privilege of cooking and eating the day’s catch was a given in his family of cooks and chefs. With four children, Barbara and Hal Reid instinctively knew that their children would thrive on real food cooked from scratch long before it was a trend. Mealtimes were a joint effort with everyone pitching in to prep and then sitting down together as a family. This food culture led one sister to become a successful CIA trained chef, another to a career in restaurant and hospitality marketing and a brother to fund the launch of his fine art with a side hustle as a waiter and restaurant manager.

This love of nature, the coastal life, and superior food cooked with the freshest ingredients stayed with Regan as he followed his quest for adventure from Florida to upscale restaurants in Aspen, Colorado and California. Urged by his parents, Regan honed his natural affinity for preparing excellent food, with formal training at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. After graduation he expanded his experience working in high volume restaurants in Tulsa, OK, Lexington, KY and Orlando, FL.

He might have shaken the sand from his boat shoes, but the love of Florida and the coastal life never left him.  Seeking the same connection to nature that he grew up with for his own three sons, Regan returned to Central Florida so they could grow up spending time on the water and preparing and enjoying great food with family and friends. It seems the orange doesn’t fall far from the tree; the youngest son requested his own grill at age 7 and has competed in barbecue contests. In addition to being immersed in all things culinary, Regan and his wife Lynn also raise a small herd of Brangus cattle using natural methods.

Yum Yum Kitchen

Not content to concept an ordinary food truck, Chef Regan went big and sourced a trailer large enough to house a commercial kitchen so he could bring a new level of fresh and healthy cuisine to his hometown of Ocala, Florida.  Coincidentally, it is close enough for Chef Regan to escape to Cedar Key frequently for inspiration and relaxation.

The “out of the box” portable restaurant soon became a local favorite and the official test kitchen where the Original Garlic Seasoning was developed. Currently the seasoning is available for purchase at Yum Yum Kitchen as well as on Amazon Prime.
